PATRICK POIRIER

PERSONAL TRAINER

Hi, I’m Patrick.

I love video games, fantasy movies and books, and lifting heavy things.

I believe that fitness should be fun and accessible for everyone.   Everyone’s goals and needs are going to be different, so I work with my clients to create unique plans that fit their needs, their life, and their preferences.

For myself, a combination of strength and cardiovascular training have helped to give me confidence in my body and my abilities.  I am a congenital amputee, one arm, and have chronic asthma. I have struggled to do many of the activities I enjoyed because I could never catch my breath, and I had to take very frequent breaks. So, when I started out as a teenager, my first goal was to be able to run for 5 minutes without stopping.  It took months before I got there, but once I could run for 5 minutes, I set a new goal, then another one, and then another.  Roughly a year later, I ran my first 10km race, something I thought I would never be able to do.  Since then, I have trained for Duathlon, half marathons, powerlifting, and bodybuilding. The biggest thing that my experience has taught me is to start small. It’s great to have a large goal to work towards, but if you don’t have milestones set along the way, the bigger goal can feel daunting.

I am a BCRPA Certified Personal Trainer with a specialty in Weight Training, and with my approach to training, I want to meet you where you are at.  I love seeing people find their strength and grow their confidence.  So, whether you are looking to improve your overall health, you are just starting out, or you are wanting to up your training to the next level, I want to help you achieve your goals.
